Derrick meant a lot to so many of us in his ALS Family. To me, he was a daily chat, a fantasy football friendly rival, a real football fan and discusser, and a fellow cheer dad. He was so proud of his kids, and when his daughters joined Cali, the same gym where my daughter used to cheer competitively a few years ago, we shared stories of what being a cheer dad is like, and why we love supporting our strong and committed daughters. We all miss him a lot, and share your pain. Big love to all three kids - my daughters also had to finish growing up without one parent, and it pains me to think about how much their mother missed out seeing on what wonderful women they are becoming. I'm sure Derrick would want to be at every game, every comp, every graduation, every birthday, and every other event in their lives. You all remain loved so much even if he's not there everyday to show it.
